It's time for the MCC Spring Muscial! This year it's Once Upon a Mattress. Once Upon a Mattress delighted audiences on Broadway and is sure to tickle your funny bone. The performance runs Apr. 28-30 at the El Capitan School auditorium in Colorado City, 255 N Cottonwood St, beginning at 7:30 p.m. each evening.
If you thought you knew the story of "The Princess and The Pea," you may be in for a walloping surprise! Carried on a wave of wonderful songs, by turns hilarious and raucous, romantic and melodic, this rollicking spin on the familiar classic of royal courtship and comeuppance provides for some side-splitting shenanigans. Chances are you'll never look at fairy tales quite the same way again.
Doug Bishop co-directs the production with musical director Dr. Ken Peterson, who is also a professor at Dixie State College. Cast members include Max Horsley as the Minstrel, Elizabeth Timpson as Lady Larken, Artemisia Hammon as Queen Aggravain, David Timpson as Prince Dauntless, Ianthus Hammon as King Sextimus and Lucas Hammon as Sir Harry.
